GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Tusculum University has promoted Zoe Harpine to associate head women’s lacrosse coach, vice president of athletics Josh Ealy has announced.
Harpine (formerly Pekins) joined the Tusculum program in the summer of 2023 as assistant coach, and oversees the Pioneers’ defensive and goalie units. The Pioneers posted an 8-9 record during the 2025 season, an improvement of three wins from the previous year and the most wins for the program since 2016.
“Zoe has been a vital part of what we’ve been building within this program since the day she arrived,” commented head coach Jenna Agostino. “Promoting her to associate head coach was one of the easiest decisions I have made as a head coach — I can’t think of anyone more deserving. She is a servant leader with immense talent and passion for what she does, and I can’t wait to see her continue to thrive in her new role.”
“I am incredibly grateful to step into this new role. Huge thanks to Jenna for her trust and mentorship, and to the entire team — past and present — for their confidence in me, their love for the game, and the heart they bring every day,” said Harpine. “Being part of this program is a privilege, and I am honored to keep building alongside them.”
Harpine, a native of Columbia, Maryland, was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at midfield for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County from 2017-20. Harpine scored 41 goals and had five assists for 46 points in 57 career games at UMBC, while adding 45 draw controls and 39 ground balls along with 29 caused turnovers. She was team captain for the Retrievers during the 2020 season.
While at UMBC, Harpine was an assistant coach for the 2023 HoCo girls lacrosse team. After graduating, Harpine began as head coach of the Maryland United Coast Selects 2024 team.
Harpine was involved in sports marketing and recreation during her time at UMBC, including taking pictures and video of sporting events and supervising a staff of 20 as a recreation manager.
Before coming to Tusculum, she served as junior varsity head coach at Liberty High School in Sykesville, Maryland for the 2023 season.
Harpine graduated from UMBC with a bachelor of arts degree in media and communication studies, with a minor in social welfare. She earned a masters degree in sport management from Tusculum in 2025.
