KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 5/6 Tennessee picked up three points at home Sunday afternoon, earning its second conference victory of the season with a 2-1 win over LSU.

With the results, the Lady Vols improved to 8-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play. UT remains unbeaten at Regal Soccer Stadium, extending its home record to 4-0-0.

Redshirt junior Leah Klurman opened up scoring in the 32nd minute in dramatic fashion. With open space in front of her, she dribbled from midfield and fired a right-footed shot into the upper-left corner past the keeper from well outside the 18-yard box. It was the defender’s first career goal.

Klurman becomes the 10th Lady Vol to score this season, at the half-way mark, already surpassing last year’s number of total goal-scorers.

Tennessee dominated the first half, finishing with eight shots and 62% possession, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Junior Kate Runyon added an insurance goal in the 65th minute — her fourth of the season — when she followed up a blocked pass by the LSU defense and buried the rebound at the far post.

LSU answered in the 70th minute when Ida Hermannsdottir converted a penalty kick.

The final 20 minutes were hard-fought and physical. Sophomore goalkeeper Cayden Norris made all four of her saves during that stretch to preserve the lead. LSU attempted 11 shots in the second half, compared to just two in the first, and earned six corner kicks in the final twenty minutes. Tennessee’s defense held firm to secure the 2-1 victory.

For the match, the Lady Vols tallied 15 shots and controlled 56% of possession.

UP NEXT: Tennessee looks to add its third consecutive conference win, hosting Texas A&M for the first Friday night game of 2025 at Regal Soccer Stadium, Friday Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. ET.
