The Greeneville boys cross country team picked up a win on Saturday at the Walters State Senators Invitational in Morristown.
The Greene Devils were led by Trey Bailey who once again placed first an individual. He ran the five-kilometer course in 16:28.98.
Greeneville’s Isaac Gibson was second in 17:37;33, and Jules Richard was sixth in 18:29.17. Grant Tunnell was 16th and Carter Raby was 18th. Greeneville finished with 43 team points.
Lakeway Christian Academy was second as a team with 45 points, and Morristown West was third with 58 points.
Chuckey-Doak’s Benjamin Merrill came in 10th place in 19:23.52. Logan Malone was 32nd, Blake Lippard 41st, Ayden Hollifield 45th, and Collin Lovins 51st. As a team the Black Knights placed sixth.
For the Greeneville girls Ashlynn Ranly placed fifth in 23:38.61. Susan Mullhollen was 18th, Aley White 19th, and Vera McKinney 27th.
Lilla Harrell of Cherokee won the girls race in 21:32.00.
Cherokee was the girls team champion as well with five top 10 finishers.
South Greene Boys Place 6th In JC
The South Greene boys cross country team finished in sixth place at The Sullys Steamers Bluegrass Night Class in Johnson City on Saturday.
Noah Case led the Rebels with a 24th place finish in 18:44.82. Jayden Laycek was 25th, Gabriel McKinney 36th, Aiden Hawk 37th and Blake Tweed 57th.
West Greene’s Julian Greenlee was 42nd and Aiden Cox was 58th.
Dobyns-Bennett was first as a team and Science Hill was second.
The South Greene girls finished in seventh place led by Chelsea Metcalf who was 10th as an individual in 22:40.01. Ava Leasure was 20th, Riley Walters was 34th, Mackenzie Johnson 40th and Helen King 44th.
Science Hill won the girls race and Sullivan East was second.
Was Greene’s top runner was Sarai Galarza who was 42nd.
Four GMS Runners Advance To State
Four Greeneville Middle School runners advanced to the TMSAA State Championship Meet with strong showings on Saturday in Gray at the TMSAA Class AAA Section 1 Meet.
Maggie Moore led the Lady Greene Devils by placing second overall in 12:25.1. Bethany Knights was 17th overall in 14:25.7.
Bristol Middle School was first as a team and Cate Holden of Liberty Bell was first as an individual in 12:17.80.
In the boys race Greeneville’s Mason Boatman was sixth as an individual in 11:50.30, and Hayden Church was 11th as an individual in 12:41.20.
Maksim Bobick of Northview Academy was first as an individual and John Sevier was first as a team.
The State Championship will be held in Clarksville on October 4.
Middle school runners from Greeneville and Greene County will be in action on Thursday at Holston Home.
