GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Emily White set a program single-game record with 22 saves for Tusculum University as the Pioneers fell 18-5 to nationally-ranked Limestone University in South Atlantic Conference women’s lacrosse on Wednesday at Pioneer Field.

White made 11 saves in each half to break the single-game record of 19 saves set by Brooke Wagner against Lincoln Memorial on April 11, 2018. The 25th-ranked Saints (4-0, 1-0 SAC) outshot the Pioneers (1-3, 0-1 SAC) by a 44-16 margin in the match.

Megan Davis had two goals and six assists to lead Limestone, while Rylee Johnson finished with three goals and two assists. The Saints led 10-4 at halftime, then scored eight straight in the second half until the Pioneers got on the board on a goal by Kylie Marek with six seconds left.

Lucy Brewer scored two goals, Cassidy Bourne had a goal and three assists and Liberty Jones scored a goal and an assist for Tusculum, in addition to Marek’s goal. The Pioneers were beaten 19-7 on draws by the Saints, and had 20 turnovers to just eight for Limestone in the match.

Limestone went out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Bourne scored for Tusculum with 41 seconds left in the opening period. The Pioneers scored three of the five goals in the second quarter, including two goals from Brewer and one from Jones. Limestone would then go on an 8-0 run that included four assists from Davis, but Tusculum had four shots in the final minute before Marek cashed in.

Jones had three ground balls and two draw controls for the Pioneers, while Jessie Carolin-Vandenberg had three ground balls. For Limestone, Bailey Stumpf had 10 draw controls and five caused turnovers along with five ground balls.

Limestone used four goalkeepers in the match, with Emma McCoy making five saves in the first 34 1/2 minutes and Tristan Schkade adding two stops in the final four minutes. Emily Hoffman and Izzy Eldridge combined for 21 1/2 minutes with no shots on goal against.

The Pioneers are back home on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. to face Thomas More in a non-conference match. The Saints have opened the season with an 0-2 record ahead of a home match with 13th-ranked UIndy on Friday.
