Mosheim, TN – West Greene hosted Chuckey-Doak in softball action on a cold and blustery afternoon at Reece Baughard Field Thursday afternoon.  Although the temperatures were low, the offensive production was high.  Both teams collected a total of 20 hits and scored a total of 19 runs.  The largest production came off the bat of Lady Buff Hayley Arnold who went 4 for 4, with 3 triples and 6 RBIs as West Greene wins 10-9 to earn their first win in two years and gives Clinton Haun his first victory as head coach.

Chuckey Doak started the scoring in the top of the first when Hailey Foshie doubled, driving in a run, followed by an error, allowing 2 more Black Knights to cross for the 3-0 lead.  West Greene countered with two of their own when Arnold batted in a run with her first triple of the game and then scored on an Alexis Cutshall single.

The Lady Knights added to their lead in the top of the second as Foshie and Hailey Taylor, who paced Chuckey Doak with 2 hits each, singled and then scored on a West Greene error, making the score 6-2.  The Lady Buffs bounced back to tie the game behind Arnold’s three-run triple in their half of the second inning.

Both teams plated a run in the third before being shut out in the fourth and then each netting a run in the fifth, leaving the game tied 8-8.  Chuckey Doak regained the lead in the top of the sixth on a Michelle Silverman ground-out that allowed Bramlett to score from third.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Alissa Lawson reached on a fielding error and advance to second on a wild pitch.  Morgan Brown would then single to center to advance Lawson to third.  She stole second to set the stage for some more heroics from the home team.  Arnold belted a 1-1 pitch to center field for her third triple of the game, scoring both runners, and giving West Greene the 10-9 advantage.

The Knights went down in order in the top of the seventh as Brown picked up two strikeouts in the inning, followed by a line out to the shortstop to complete the win.

West Greene improves to 1-2 on the year and awaits a trip to Johnson County next Monday, while Chuckey Doak will travel to University High on Tuesday.
