Greeneville 4 – Danville 0
Grant Hunter and Brady Francisco came through in the clutch, each delivering two-out singles that drove in a pair of runs as the Greeneville Flyboys opened their six-day road swing with a 4-0 shutout of the Danville Otterbots on Thursday night.
Though Danville held a 7-5 edge in hits, the Flyboys made theirs count and their pitching staff took care of the rest. Freddy Beruvides got the start and delivered six strong innings to earn the win, striking out eight and walking just one. The bullpen trio of Garrett Mackowiak, Evan Kay, and Keenan Mork slammed the door over the final three frames, combining for three scoreless innings and one more strikeout to complete the seven-hit shutout.
With the win, Greeneville continues to hold a slim 1/2 game lead over Kingsport in the western division.
The Flyboys and Otterbots are back at it Friday night in Danville for game two of the series. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
