Greeneville 9 – Bluefield 8
Greeneville opened a three-game series with a hard-fought 9-8 victory over Bluefield Tuesday night. The Flyboys built a 6-1 lead through four innings before the Ridge Runners rallied to tie the game in the top of the eighth. Greeneville responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 9-6, then held off a late Bluefield comeback to secure the win.
Matthew Kerrigan paced the Flyboys’ offense with two doubles and three RBIs. Owen ten Oever and Jackson Berry each collected a double and a single, while Bryan Williams Jr. added a pair of singles.
Jaden Hill earned the victory in relief, allowing two runs on three hits over 1 1/3 innings. He struck out one and walked three.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night, with first pitch set for 7:00 p.m.
