GATLINBURG – Chuckey-Doak finished up its 2025 season on Friday night with a 52-7 loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman.

“That’s an extremely talented football team. Those guys have a chance to make a run. Coach has done a great job. They’ve got a bunch of dudes that can flat go. They’re really good on both sides of the ball,” Black
Knights Head Coach Billy Kaylor said.

The Black Knights end their season with a final record of 4-6 (1-4) with wins over North Greene, Sullivan
East, West Greene, and Claiborne.

The night did not start well for Chuckey-Doak and that was a sign of things to come. They went three-and-out
on their first drive and were forced to punt. The Highlanders quickly put six points on the board with a
33-yard receiving touchdown by Elijah Spence on their second play. GP led 7-0 with 8:56 left in the first.

Another Chuckey-Doak punt gave Gatlinburg-Pittman the opportunity to put six more on the board
courtesy of a 15-yard rushing touchdown by Brayden Maples.

Chuckey-Doak punted for the third time in the first quarter, but gained the ball back with a great
interception by senior Dominic Hahnlen in his last high school football game. The offense stalled again and punted after another three-and-out.

Gatlinburg’s Cecilio Rodriguez took a swing pass 35 yards to the 1-yard line and was rewarded with a handoff into the end zone on the next play to increase the lead to 21-0 with 2:05 left in the first.

Hahnlen made another big play in the first half with a streaking 75-yard catch down the hash marks that ended with a tackle at the two-yard line.

Coach Kaylor spoke about his pair of plays on Friday night, “He’s played hard all year and he’s gotten a lot better through the last three years and certainly has big-play ability. Had the big interception and big catch. Love him to death. Not a great way to end, but he played well. I’m happy for him.”

The Black Knights punched it in on the second play of the second quarter with a 2-yard run from Marcus Britt. Chuckey-Doak trailed 21-7.

The Highlanders turned it on after allowing the big play and scored three more times before the half.
Maples wasted no time getting those points back with a 73-yard touchdown on the very next play from scrimmage. Rodriguez scored again with a 6-yard rushing touchdown to make it 35-7 and Maples scored his third of the half with a 38-yard rushing touchdown. GP led 42-7 at the break.

Brayden Maples scored his fourth and final touchdown to begin the second half with a 14-yard rushing
touchdown. Gatlinburg-Pittman led 49-7 after three quarters.

The Black Knight defense stopped Pittman’s reserves and forced them to try a field goal in the fourth.
The kick was true and the Highlanders took a 52-7 that took us to the end.

Gatlinburg-Pittman handed Chuckey-Doak a 52-7 loss in their final game of 2025.

Chuckey-Doak graduates six seniors in the  spring.

“That is just a special group of kids. There’s six guys there. They’ve battled through a lot. I love each and every one of them. I came in here when they were sophomores and they loved me back and I appreciate that. They’ve loved our kids and my wife and I appreciate that. They’ve laid a foundation for what we’re gonna be in the future, but it’s hard to see right now for them,” Coach Kaylor stated.

Gatlinburg-Pittman finished with a perfect record of 10-0 (5-0) in the regular season and will be a one seed
in the playoffs.
