Knoxville, TENN – Greeneville High School boys continued its dominance at the TSSAA AA Sectional in Knoxville, clinching their third consecutive Sectional Championship with standout performances from their track and field athletes.

Sophomore sensation Zaydyn Anderson emerged as the star of the day, delivering outstanding performances across multiple events. Anderson showcased his remarkable talent by securing victories in three individual events, contributing significantly to Greeneville’s success. Notably, Anderson soared to new heights in the long jump, setting a school record with an impressive leap of 23 feet, 4.75 inches. The previous record was established by Henry Anderson back in 1972.  His remarkable athleticism was further highlighted by his season-best times in the 100m and 200m dashes, clocking in at 10.71 and 21.59 respectively, securing first-place finishes in both events. Additionally, Anderson demonstrated his versatility with a commendable second-place finish in the triple jump.  Darian Humphries excelled in the 110M Hurdles with a season best time of 16.22 to finish second and automatically qualify for the State Tournament.

Freshman standout Trey Bailey also made significant contributions to Greeneville’s success, particularly with the 4×800 relay team. Bailey showcased his potential with solid performances, finishing fourth in the 1600m and 3200m races, displaying remarkable determination and skill.

Jacob Moore exhibited his prowess in the Pole Vault event, securing a third-place finish with a height of 12 feet, 6 inches, adding valuable points to Greeneville’s overall tally.

In the girls’ division, Greeneville’s athletes displayed resilience and determination despite facing tough competition. Olivia McClintock showcased her speed with a season-best time of 12.63 seconds in the 100m dash, securing a commendable sixth-place finish. Susan Mulhollen delivered a strong performance in the 400m dash, clocking in at 1:04.25, earning a ninth-place finish.

Despite facing stiff competition, Greeneville’s relay teams put forth valiant efforts, with the 4×800 meter relay team clinching third place with a time of 10:30.93.

Jacey Goodwin demonstrated her skill in the high jump, securing a fourth-place finish with a height of 5 feet. Ahonesti Holmes showcased her talent in the long jump, finishing ninth with a distance of 15 feet, 5.5 inches.

Lanna Click exhibited her abilities in the triple jump and hurdles events, showcasing determination despite tough competition.

With their impressive showing at the Sectional Championship, Greeneville’s athletes are poised to make a strong statement at the upcoming state tournament, with hopes of continuing their success on the grand stage.
