Greeneville’s Lady Devils, the Region 1 runner-up, traveled to Maryville on Friday afternoon hoping to return to the TSSAA State Bowling Tournament for the first time since the 2010–11 season. Standing in their way were the Region 2 champion Heritage Lady Mountaineers, who established control early and cruised to a 26.5–0.5 victory.
Heritage came out fast, rolling a 944 series to jump out to an 8–0 lead. Katelyn Russell led the charge with a 188, followed by Brooke Genoe’s 161. Greeneville posted a 746 series, paced by Lylli Sopha’s 143 and Carly McLeod’s 136.
The Lady Mountaineers showed no signs of slowing down in game two, improving to a 1,062 set and nearly sweeping for the second straight game. Russell stayed hot with a 206, while Keeley Staley added a 190, Emma Lonas a 180, and Genoe a 178.
Greeneville also improved in the second set, finishing with a 756, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Breana Brown broke up the shutout with a 155 that resulted in a tie, while Sopha and McLeod each rolled a 130.
Heritage sealed the match by winning both Baker games, 192–163 and 174–85, to advance to next week’s state tournament in Smyrna. The Lady Mountaineers improve their record to 16–1, while Greeneville’s season comes to an end at 6–11.
