BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — After a stellar week for the Lady Vols, Zoe Humphrey has been named SEC Co–Freshman of the Week in an announcement on Monday. Humphrey becomes the third Tennessee volleyball student-athlete to be awarded a weekly honor by the conference this season, with Chelsea Sutton having previously won defensive player of the week honors and Caroline Kerr getting Setting of the Week.
Humphrey had a strong week at the net for Tennessee, finishing the week with 13 total blocks. Humphrey set a new career-high on Sept. 26 against South Carolina with eight blocks. She added five blocks in the sweep over Georgia on Sept. 24. Humphrey was also effective offensively, adding nine kills to her season total while hitting for a .563 hitting percentage.
Humphrey has had a nice start to her Tennessee volleyball career. The Houston, Texas native has 40 kills on the season and leads the team with a .486 hitting percentage. Humphrey has been a force at the net for the Lady Vols, ranking second on the team with 40 blocks.
The Lady Vols are back on the court on Friday, as they take on LSU on the road. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
