After a weekend in the Tiny Day tournament where scoring runs was a challenge the South Greene softball team came back on Monday and put 21 runners on base and scored 15 runs in a 15-4 win over Chuckey-Doak.
“I think we played pretty solid and we hit the ball well all the way through the lineup,” South Greene coach Amy Hawk said. “We took advantage of opportunities that they gave us. We did not hit the ball well over the weekend, and then we added some errors to that to make it worse. But to come back today, I felt like the girls were more determined and more focused, and they did not take this one lightly.”

More importantly than getting the offense going again, the Lady Rebels picked up a road win in District 1-2A play, improving to 6-0 in league play.
“This one was a conference game, and it matters more, and the girls played like that,” Hawk said. “So far, we have played pretty well in conference. Some of the scores may not look close, but the games were played closer than the final score indicates. We have had some tough conference games, but today I felt like we got in front early and were in control of this game.”
South Greene used seven hits, seven walks and seven hit baters to score its 15 runs.
Madison Hensley was 2-for-2, with two walks, an RBI, and four runs scored. Paisely Brobeck was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
