Senior wrestler Bryce Freshour officially signed to continue his wrestling career at King University on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshour detailed how it felt to become a collegiate athlete by stating, “It feels amazing. It’s just been a big part of my life here lately. When I first started it really changed my life. It’s been my favorite thing to do ever since I started. I’ve really had a great time doing it and it feels amazing to do it for four more years.”
Bryce attended South Greene High School, but co-oped with West Greene. He wrestled for only two years as a junior and senior, but really developed into a talented wrestler in that short amount of time.
“I’ve learned that hard work really pays off. Being in the room, making it to practices, showing up and being there, even if you can’t wrestle, just watching can help a lot too,” he expressed.
King University is located an hour away in Bristol. The tornadoes are King’s official mascot. The tornadoes finished the 2025-26 season with a 9-5 (8-3) team record and compete in the Conference Carolinas. King is coached by Blaze Shade.
Bryce mentioned his desire to attend King University was largely due to the short distance away from home and the opportunity to study his major of choice. Freshour plans to major in exercise science and become a physical therapist one day.
Freshour ended his signing day by describing how surreal it felt to further his athletic career into the collegiate level. “It just feels terrific. It’s ethereal really.”
