Bowlers from across Region 1 gathered Saturday at Holiday Lanes to compete for a regional championship and to vie for one of six qualifying spots in the 2026 TSSAA State Tournament, set for January in Smyrna. Each athlete bowled six games over 4 lanes on a TSSAA-selected sport shot oil pattern.
In the girls’ division, freshman Zoey Chompff claimed the regional crown with an impressive 1195 (199.2 average). Her steady performance never dipped below 190, highlighted by a 218. Science Hill’s Trinity Bowen finished close behind with a 1158 (193 average), while Greeneville’s Addison Phillips used a tournament-high 243 to secure third place with an 1147 to average 191.2.

Dobyns-Bennett rounded out the remaining qualifying spots, with Riley Grace Bridges (1016), Kylie Price (985), and Mackenzie Place (953) earning top-six finishes. Chuckey-Doak’s Hailey Williamson placed ninth, while teammate Sara Shirey-Wirt landed 12th. Greeneville’s Lylli Sopha (17th) and Jazmine Kesterson (18th) also earned spots inside the top 20.
On the boys’ side, Gibbs sophomore Alex Owens topped the field with a 1214 series, averaging 202.3 for the day. Science Hill’s Adam Miller stayed near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event and finished second with an 1180 (196.7 average). Kingsport’s Ryan Barrett (1157) and Science Hill’s Peyton Abel (1156) finished just one pin apart to claim the next two spots, while Greeneville’s Jon Gilbert and Powell’s Sawyer Marshall matched scores at 1131 (188.5) to secure the final qualifying positions.

Chuckey-Doak’s Evan Stills earned a 10th-place finish with a 1089 series, and Greeneville’s Aadin Sandidge placed 15th with a 1028.
