GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Martez Brown recorded a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball team to an 85-71 South Atlantic Conference win at Tusculum Wednesday night at Pioneer Field.

The Railsplitters (19-6, 13-3 SAC) shot 55 percent from the field and record 19 assists on its 29 made field goals as LMU completes the season-sweep over the Pioneers (11-12, 9-8 SAC).

Wes Enis added 18 points, while Matthew Sells buried five 3-pointers for his 15 markers and Jordan Walters tallied 13 points in the victory.

Tusculum’s Jacob Hobbs led the Pioneers with his season-high 15 points as he went 6-of-9 from the floor in his 35 minutes of action. Connor Jordan tallied 13 points, while Bryce Jackson and KJ Crump contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively in the losing effort.

LMU led throughout most of the game and utilized a 16-3 run in the first half to take a 37-23 lead with 4:52 left before halftime. The run was sparked by a trio of 3-pointers from Sells.

Tusculum would get as close as 13 points but LMU would push their advantage to as much as 20 before settling for the 14-point win.

Lincoln Memorial dominated the lane, out-scoring TU 42-24 in the paint and out-rebounded the Pioneers by a 33-23 margin including 10 offensive boards resulting in 16 second chance points.

Tusculum recorded six blocked shots on the night, give the Pioneers 98 for the year, which are the eighth-most in a TU season.

TU continues its home-stand on Saturday when they host Coker University at 4 p.m. The Cobras defeated the Pioneers 82-77 earlier this season. Coker is in fifth place in the league standings, while Tusculum is tied for sixth.

Saturday is the men’s basketball team’s annual “Play for Kell” Game which honors the life of Ja’Kell Johnson, the niece of Tusculum head coach J.T. Burton.  Listen to the game on 95.5FM WSMG, presented by Gateway Ford Nissan.
