AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 13 Tennessee soccer team suffered its second defeat of the 2026 season on Thursday night at Auburn, falling 1-0 to the Tigers.
The Lady Vols (6-2-3, 1-2-2) struggled to break down a stout Auburn defense, recording just four shots in the match and failing to place a shot on target. Defensively, Tennessee limited the Tigers to a single goal despite conceding 11 shots and three on target.
For the third consecutive match, the Lady Vols struggled to generate offense in the first half, recording just one shot in the opening 45 minutes. On the opposite end, Auburn tallied six first-half shots, including the match’s lone goal in the 25th minute. The 1-0 halftime advantage for the Tigers marked the first time Tennessee trailed at the half this season.
The second half saw the Lady Vols grow into the match offensively as the final whistle approached. Tennessee recorded three shots over the final 12 minutes of the contest; however, the team was unable to put an attempt on goal as Auburn stood strong for the 1-0 win. The shutout marked just the second time in 2026 that the Lady Vols failed to find the scoresheet.
Junior goalkeeper Cayden Norris recorded two saves, including an impressive parry onto the crossbar early in the second half to keep Tennessee within touching distance.
The Lady Vols will have an eight-day break before returning to action on October 9 as the team hits the road again to face No. 11 South Carolina.
