Roan Mountain – Owen Pierce drove in five runs on two hits including a Grand Slam in the 9-run second inning to help lead the Huskies to a 20-2 win against district rival Cloudland on Monday evening.
The Huskies, who scored 9 runs in the second, scored 11 runs in the third inning as Mason Smith, Jake Duffy, Isaac Gaby, Adam Weir, and Owen Pierce all delivered singles in the inning with Duffy recording two singles and two runs scored in the inning.
Tyler Britton earned the win for North Greene allowing just one hit, two runs (unearned), six strikeouts, and one walk over three innings. Adam Weir and Jaiden Bailey finished in relief on the mound in the five inning affair.
North Greene had 11 hits with Jake Duffy, Own Pierce, and Isaac Gaby collecting two hits each. Owen Pierce, on the strength of the second inning grand slam, finished the game with 5 rbi. Along with the 11 hits, North Greene also recorded 9 walks and an amazing 17 stolen bases in the game.
North Greene (6-3) will next play South Greene on Friday.
