ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tusculum University junior sprinter Isaiah Olson has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Olson set a school record in the 100 meters and a career best in the 200 meters in sweeping the events at the Electric City Invitational on Saturday. Olson also ran as part of the 4×100-meter relay that also took first place, which helped the Pioneers to a second-place finish in the meet standings.
Olson was the top qualifier in the 100 meters with a time of 10.33 seconds in preliminaries, then ran 10.27 seconds in the finals to break the school record of 10.29 seconds set in 2019. In the 200, Olson was clocked in 20.93 seconds to just miss the program mark of 20.86 seconds that has stood since 2019.
The Greeneville, Tennessee native, who was the 2024 SAC Championship Men’s Track Athlete of the Meet, was also part of the winning 4×100 relay that ran a season-best 40.60 seconds and took first place.
Olson is currently ranked 8th in Division II in the 100 meters and is tied for 20th in the 200 meters, while the 4×100 relay is 21st-fastest in Division II so far this season.
Olson and the Pioneers will return to competition on Friday-Saturday, April 18-19 at the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.
