SOFTBALL
Greeneville 11, Claiborne 10
The Greeneville softball team went to Claiborne on Tuesday and picked up an important 11-10 win over their District 2-3A foe.
Greeneville earned 12 hits in the win with Kyla Jobe going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Kaley Garland was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Gabby Atchison had two RBIs. Brynlee Jones was 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored.
In the circle Jones went all seven innings with seven strikeouts, six walks and 12 hits allowed.
BASEBALL
West Greene 20, Unaka 2
The West Greene baseball team improved to 17-5 on Tuesday with a massive 20-2 win over Unaka.
The Buffaloes used six hits, 14 walks and four errors to score their 20 runs. Ethan Carpenter, Bronson Brown and Kyle Dillon all had three RBIs. They all had a single, as did Conner Campbell, Braden McCamey, and Skylar Thornburg.
On the mound Brandon Hunter threw 2 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, two walks, and three hits allowed.
North Greene 9, Happy Valley 6
The North Greene baseball team picked up a 9-6 win over Happy Valley on Tuesday evening.
The Huskies earned seven hits on Tuesday. Aidan Halley was 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Jake Duffy was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Owen Pierce had a double and an RBI.
On the mound Brady Malone struck out 12, walked four, and allowed four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
SOCCER
Chuckey-Doak 3, University High 1
The Chuckey-Doak soccer team defeated University High 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon for an important District 1-1A win.
Pablo Dimas was the difference maker with two goals in the 47th and 50th minutes. Dominic Hahnlen’s header in the 62nd provided more insurance.
The Black Knights improved to 3-2 against conference counterparts and locked up 3rd place in the final regular season standings.
They host Daniel Boone for Senior Night on Thursday at 6:00.
Greeneville 7, Cherokee 0
The Greeneville soccer team knocked off Cherokee 7-0 on Tuesday to secure the top seed in the upcoming District 2-AA Tournament.
Sam Gourley led the Greene Devils attack with two goals and two assists. Simon Holt found the back of the net twice for the Greene Devils. Emerson Hensley, Jude Dyer and Remi Elyze-Vital all had one goal in the win.
As a team Greeneville out shot the Chiefs 28-4 while holding Cherokee to one shot on frame.
The win was Greeneville’s 83rd consecutive victory over district opponent. The Devils will be back in action on Thursday against Hardin Valley.
TRACK AND FIELD
Greeneville’s Darien Humphries became the first local athlete to earn a trip to the Spring Fling after he placed second in the East Section Decathlon on Tuesday afternoon.
The top two finishers in each section earn an automatic qualifying spot for the state decathlon which will be held on May 14-15 at Kirkwood High School in Clarksville.
