CROSS COUNTRY
The Greeneville boys cross country team dominated its first race of the year, taking the top four spots in the Hayfield Hustle held at Holston Home on Tuesday.
Trey Bailey won the race in a time of 17:24.10. Greeneville’s Grant Tunnell was second, Isaac Gibson third and Jules Richard fourth. Greeneville’s fifth runner Riley DiSilvo finished in 16th place.
Chuckey-Doak finished in third out of five teams on Tuesday. Benjamin Merrill was the top finisher in fifth place at 20:09.78. Logan Malone was ninth and Collin Lovins was 10th.
West Greene’s Julian Greenlee came in seventh place at 21:18.69.
In the girls race Towering Oaks came in first place as a team. Ella Harrison was the individual champ in 24:43.27. Alayna Overholt was sixth, Rachel Yantachka was eighth, Anna Yantachka 11th and Riley Roberts 20th.
Greeneville’s Ashlynn Ranly came in second at 25:59.36. Susan Mullhollen was fourth, Aley White seventh and Vera McKinney 24th.
Clair Crews of West Greene came in ninth place at 30:20.28.
GOLF
The South Greene boys golf team came away with a win on Tuesday at Graysburg Hills in a four-way match among the county schools.
Keannan Hankins and Brennan Gregg tied for medalist honors by shooting a 40. Cameron Kinser had a 41 an Ben Gosnell shot a 54 for the Rebels 154.
West Greene shot a 185 as a team. JT Harris led the way with a 43, Keatton Potter had a 45, Thomas Gogsdell 47 and Peyton Shelton 50.
Chuckey-Doak turned in a 195 team score. Kaleb Blankenship led the Black Knights with a 46, Ben Palazzo shot 49, Gavin Murray 50 and Dakine Thompson 50.
Tyler Britton led North Greene with a 47, Isaac Gaby 48, Ethan Dilks 49 and Tyler stover 62 for a team score of 206.
In the girls match Chuckey-Doak shot a 109. Harley Thompson led the way with a 51 and Addilyn Boesch had a 58.
South Greene shot a 118 led by Khloe Laws who shot a 55. Kinsley Howell shot a 63.
SOCCER
Greeneville 9, Sullivan East 0
The Greeneville soccer team opened the season with a 9-0 win over Sullivan East on Tuesday.
Vivian Kammerdiener and Kinsley Spradlen each had a hat trick for the Lady Greene Devils. Vaught had two goals and Angelyn Diaz had one goal and one assist for Greeneville.
Greeneville out shot the Lady Patriots 36-2 in the contest.
Greeneville will be back in action on Thursday at Morristown East.
Chuckey-Doak 3, Morristown East 3
The Chuckey-Doak soccer team opened its season on Tuesday with a 3-3 tie against Morristown East.
The Lady Black Knights took a 2-0 lead in the first half with Jakindsey Church scoring on a rebound in the 22nd minute before Hailey Williamson scored on a direct kick.
Lindsey Rojas scored in the 52nd minute to put Chuckey-Doak up 3-1.
Mika Hernandez drew East closer with a goal in the 59th minute, and then in the 76th minute Ava Domingo found the equalizer for the Lady Hurricanes.
VOLLEYBALL
Cherokee 3, North Greene 1
The North Greene volleyball team fell to Cherokee 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Josie Graham had six kills and three aces for the Lady Huskies. Kennedy Malone had four aces, and Addi Dean had 10 digs.

Tennessee 2, South Greene 0
Tennessee 2, Greeneville 0
The Greeneville volleyball team took down South Greene 2-0 (25-20, 25-16) to start Tuesday’s tri-match. Tennessee High then swept South Greene 2-0 (25-10, 25-18). The night finished with Tennessee beating Greeneville 2-0 (27-25, 25-21).
West Greene 3, Cosby 0
The West Greene volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the young season by beating Cosby 3-0 on Tuesday.
