West Greene Tennis Sweeps Unicoi County

MOSHEIM, Tenn. — West Greene High School’s tennis teams dominated in their matches against Unicoi County on Tuesday, with the Lady Buffaloes claiming a 6-3 victory in the girls’ competition and the Buffaloes securing a 4-0 win in the boys’ contest.

The Lady Blue Devils of Unicoi County started the day strong, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play. However, West Greene quickly turned the tide in singles matches, winning five consecutive matches to secure the overall victory.

In singles action, Norah Ray of Unicoi County edged out Courtney Hinkle of West Greene in a tight battle, with Ray prevailing 9-7. Nonetheless, West Greene’s Aurora Santos, Megan Hinkle, Halie Lambert, Makal Parman, and Madison Wilds all won their singles matches convincingly, propelling the Lady Buffaloes to the 6-3 win.

The doubles competition saw Unicoi County’s Ray and Kenya Reyes defeating Hinkle and Santos of West Greene 8-5 in a hard-fought match, but West Greene’s Hinkle and Lambert responded with an 8-1 victory over Katie Adkins and Abigail Petterson. Unicoi County’s Addison Vance and Claire Moore managed to secure a win against Wilds and Dickenson of West Greene with a score of 6-0.

Unicoi County’s boys team faced challenges due to roster limitations, contributing to West Greene’s clean sweep in the boys’ competition.
