The Appalachian League announced the 10 nominees for its 2023 Humanitarian of the Year award. The Humanitarian of the Year award is given to the Appalachian League player that has been judged to have made the most notable contributions to his community during the season through active participation in community service projects.
Ten total players were nominated including Greeneville Flyboy and former Greeneville High School standout Avery Collins. Collins, son of Flyboys assistant and Greeneville head baseball coach Andy Collins, recently announced his transfer to Tusculum University for the 2023-24 season.
The Flyboys’ season came to an anti-climatic end with a rainout on Saturday and their season finale on Monday canceled due to unplayable field conditions in Bristol.
