The North Greene Huskies enter the 2023 football season with expectations to compete for a playoff spot and contend for a region title with a new-look schedule under second-year head coach Eric Tilson.
The Huskies would finish 1-10 last season with the lone win coming at home against Jellico. Two of those losses came to county foes South Greene and Chuckey-Doak by a combined 134-14; two teams that were known as “county rivals,” but both teams with significantly larger rosters. Therefore, the change was made to eliminate both of those games from the schedule as the only county team North Greene will play this season is West Greene in Mosheim in week one on August 18.
From there, the Huskies will remain on the road with a trip to Castlewood in Virginia on August 25. North Greene will make their season debut from “The Tundra” on September 1 against Jellico and will follow that with a home matchup with Cumberland Gap on September 8.
North Greene will return to the road to battle Hancock County on September 15 and then a trip to Pineville in Kentucky on September 22. Homecoming for the Huskies will be on September 29 as they host conference rival Cloudland. The three-game home stretch continues into October as following a bye week, the Huskies will host Unaka on October 13 and Happy Valley on October 20. The regular season will conclude on Thursday, October 26 as the North Greene Huskies face one final region opponent possibly with playoff implications on the line as North Greene travels to Cosby.
