Kodak, TN –

South Greene High School was well represented this past Saturday at the 2024–25 Bass Pro Shops High School Tournament Series, held at Douglas Lake. Anglers Noah Wright, Shane Williams, Christian Darnell, Jaxen Taylor, Kasen Carr, and Grayson Ellenburg competed alongside 26 of the top fishing teams from the eastern region — 25 high school and 4 junior high teams — all hoping to reel in a big catch and take home top honors.

The tournament began with a 6:30 a.m. launch, and all boats were due back at the ramp by 1:30 p.m. From there, participants headed to the Bass Pro Shops location in Kodak for the official weigh-in. Anglers paraded their catches to the scales, with nearly every team meeting the 3-fish limit.

In the high school division, the team of Ty Mays and Mason Sziksai from Bell County High School claimed first place with a total weight of 9.00 pounds. They received a trophy and $200 Bass Pro Shops gift cards. Second place went to Canyon Padgett and Levi Thompson of Temple Baptist Church, who brought in 8.38 pounds and earned a trophy and $100 gift cards. Hunter Owens and Clayton Kelley of Karns High School secured third place with 8.34 pounds, earning a trophy and $50 gift cards.

From South Greene:

  • Wright and Williams placed 13th with 6.65 pounds

  • Darnell and Taylor finished 16th with 5.81 pounds

  • Carr and Ellenburg came in 20th with 5.37 pounds

Special thanks go out to all tournament organizers, schools, and sponsors for their time, effort, and generous support throughout the season.
