Greeneville 17 – Burlington 5
Greeneville and Burlington each tallied seven hits in the series opener, but the Flyboys capitalized on 18 walks and five Sock Puppet errors to run away with a 17-5 victory—regaining sole possession of first place in the Western Division.
Cameron Kim set the tone early with a three-run homer in the third inning, part of an explosive eight-run frame for Greeneville. Ezra McNaughton continued his scorching summer at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI’s.
The most unexpected offensive spark came from Reid Haire, who only recorded one hit—a double—but took advantage of four walks to drive in five runs on the night.
Kyle Bade got the start and was sharp, striking out six while allowing just two hits, one walk, and no runs over four innings. Jace Smith picked up the win in relief, striking out three and giving up one run on two hits over three innings of relief work.
The Flyboys and Sock Puppets will wrap up their series Sunday at 5:30 p.m. before a league-wide off day.
